Description

  • Relief of mild to moderate pain inlcuding headache, dental and body pain, traumatic and surgical pain, dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), and menorrhagia (heavy or prolonged menstrual periods).
  • Symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation due to musculoskeletal and joint disorders including arthritis.

Classification

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)


Dosage

Adults: Take 1-2 capsules 3 times daily, or as prescribed by the doctor. Do not take for more than 7 days, unless advised by the doctor.


Precautions

Consult the doctor before use in patient with high blood pressure, heart disease, stomach ulcer or bleeding, asthma, and renal problem. May cause allergic reaction including hives, shock, skin reddening, asthma, skin rash and skin blisters. Discontinue use and consult the doctor immediately in case allergic reaction occurs. May also cause stomach bleeding, especially in high-risk patients. May increase risk of heart attack or stroke in excessive or prolonged drug intake. Caution use in elderly patients suffering from dehydration and kidney disease.


Side Effects

May cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and other gastrointestinal discomforts. Occasionally, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, visual disturbance, and kidney damage or disease. Rarely, skin reactions such as rash and itching.


Contraindications

This product should not be given to patients with:
-allergy to mefenaminic acid, aspirin, and other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or pain relievers
-previous experience of diarrhea due to mefenamic acid
-peptic ulcer, history or existing condition
-inflammation or ulceration of the lining of stomach or bowel
-kidney disease, severe heart and liver failure
-heart surgery (coronary artery bypass) to undergo.
