Description

  • For the relief of symptoms of mild to moderately severe pain such as headache, tooth and body pain, traumatic and post-surgical pain, dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), and pain associated with cancer.
  • Also for treatment of soft tissue rheumatism, sprain or tendonitis and low back pain.

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)


Dosage

Adults & children above 14 yrs. old:
Initial dose of 2 tablets immediately after food, followed by 1 tablet every 6 hours, or as needed. Do not take for more than 7 days.


Precautions

Use in patients with renal disease or peptic ulcer, particularly in elderly should be under doctor's supervision. In case of allergic reactions including diarrhea or other digestive problems or skin rash, discontinue use and seek medical help immediately. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult the doctor before taking this product or any medication.


Side Effects

Prolonged or excessive intake of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may increase risk of stomach irritation, bleeding, and other side effects. May cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and other gastrointestinal discomforts. Occasionally, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, visual disturbance, and kidney damage or disease. Rarely, skin reactions such as rash and itching.


Contraindications

Do not give to patients who:
-are allergic to mefenamic acid, aspirin, and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or pain relievers
-had experienced diarrhea due to mefenamic acid
-have existing or history of peptic ulcer
-have inflammation or ulceration of the lining of stomach or bowel
-have kidney disease, severe heart and liver failure
-will undergo heart surgery (coronary artery bypass)
-are pregnant or breastfeeding.
